Dental Implants

Crestal Implants are the first kind of implants developed and done by almost 90 percent of implatologists aruond the world. It jas undergone quite a few changes along the years but it primarily consists of implant screw an abutment and crown.

Phase 1
As was explained crestal implants require a lot of bone for it to integrate. When there is deficiency of bone there may be need for sinus lifts, ridge augmentations and bone grafts. After these procedures are done the implants will be placed in In most cases, the implants will be placed in simultaneously during the procedure. We get you prepped for the phase 1 part of the treatment, relaxed and ready for the implants to be placed. A local anesthetic will be given so that you do not feel any pain during the procedure. An incision is made and the bone is exposed and drilling is done to the desired depth depending on which length of implants are going to b e used. The implants are then screwed into the bone. Stitches will be given to cover the implant so that is not disturbed during its integration with bone. This integration may take three to six months, in the intervening period a removable partial denture may be given to you.

Phase 2
This is usually done after three or six months depending on the condition of the bone. X-Rays will be taken to appreciate how much of the implant has integrated with the bone. If sufficient integration is seen the implants will be exposed to put in healing caps for the gums to have a nice well adapted appearance around the crown.

Phase 3
This is usually done after a period of 10 days and it is the impression taking phase, The Healing caps are removed and abutments are placed and impressions are taken and sent to the Lab. The shade of the patients teeth will also be taken.

Phase 4
The final phase involves fixing the abutment and cementing the crown or screwing in the crown depending on the operator. You have your teeth and you are ready to go.
